Installation of downloaded software

Download releases are self-extracting. Each download package contains only one program. An installation package installs all modules of the selected software. The existence of a valid license determines the modules that will be activated at run time. The latest releases are published here.

Microsoft® Windows®

Windows downloads are executable installation programs. Double click the program icon and follow the prompts of the installation wizard. Windows licensing

Irix®

Prior to the installation, obtain access to the administrator password. It is recommended that you download the installation packages directly onto the target Irix workstation. Irix downloads are packed in "tardist" format. Irix licensing

On IRIX® 6.2 or later the software download process will automatically launch your system's software manager. Once the installation is completed, software manager will ask whether the installation files can be removed. Answer, "yes." You can also uninstall the software using software manager.

Linux®(Huygens only)

Open a Unix shell as 'root' and change to the directory where you have stored the *.rpm file during the download.

Type: 'rpm -i ', where is the name of the saved file. The distribution will unpack the rpm file and store the files to the appropriate directories.

Example: rpm -i huygens-2.3.2-8.rpm (for re-installs use 'rpm -Uhv'). Linux licensing

Types of Software Licenses

Node-locked — Node-locked licenses grant permission to run the licensed software on one computer (node) only. All evaluation licenses are node-locked.

• Installing licenses on the Windows operating system
• Installing licenses on the Irix operating system
• To install Huygens licenses for Linux, please refer to the Irix procedure

Floating - With a floating license, Bitplane software can be installed on several computers but may only run on one at a time.

Computers running the Windows or Irix operating systems can operate as license servers:

• Installing the license server on an Irix computer
• Installing the license server on a Windows computer
